Letter to PM alleging systemic corruption posted online

TORONTO, June 21 /CNW/ – Former Canadian broadcasting insider Keith Mahar has posted information on his website and blog in relation to what he claims is an unprecedented case of government corruption in Canada.

The alleged long-term case of systemic corruption has reportedly cost citizens more than $1.2 billion and implicates the Harper government, media companies and the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC).

On 3 June 2010, Mahar’s legal counsel Paul Armarego provided Prime Minister Stephen Harper with copies of several documents related to the issue that were shredded by the CRTC on 27 March 2006.

A copy of Armarego’s letter to the prime minister is posted online:http://www.keithmahar.com/cms/index.php?page=mediascam

At issue is a scheme related to cable television rates that Mahar claims on his blog has served to unjustly enrich shareholders of media companies and is tantamount to “government-regulated fraud.”

As documented, the accounting scheme in question originally started during Brian Mulroney’s final month as Canadian prime minister and was adopted by CRTC commissioners that he is responsible for appointing to the quasi-judicial regulatory tribunal.
